What can I do to get my husband to understand that when I sit with him on the couch and fall asleep every 10 seconds that it's because of IH and not laziness. It is distressing to feel like he's watching me all the time when I'm in and out of sleep?

He enjoys waking me up I'm sure and even acts like he's disgusted by it. He's even been to my neurology appointments with me..I can't help this. It just happens! Can anyone help me with this? My name is Leslie, by the way. I hope to converse with some of you and to share ! Thanks !

  1. Thank you !

  2. Hi Leslie. That must be incredibly frustrating, especially since he has been to your appointments and should have a good understanding of IH. I can only think of two suggestions. One would be to gently bring up his reaction to your inability to stay awake during your next appointment and to ask your doctor to explain that it's out of your control. Another would be therapy. If he won't go to therapy with you, it might even help to go on your own. You can't control his behavior, but you can control your reaction to him. A good therapist can help you develop strategies that leave you feeling less stresssed.
I hope others chime in with more suggestions. Know that we're here for you whenever you need us. Warmly, Lori (Team Member)
